This web page acknowledges allegiance to the Supreme Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, whose seat of authority is in McAlester, Oklahoma, of which Reverend W. Mark Sexson was the founder and Mrs. Marie Renda  (2006-2008) is Supreme Worthy Advisor, and to the Grand Jurisdiction of Texas of which Mrs. Marlene Dibrell, is our Supreme Deputy, and Sister Shelley Ashcraft (2007-2008) is our Grand Worthy Advisor.

History: In 1961 - 1962 the Worthy Matron of Mt. Houston Chapter#1034, Order of the Eastern Star was Mrs. Maxine Cummings and the Worthy Patron was Mr. Sam Bell . It was a wonderful dream of Mrs. Cummings to sponsor an Assembly of Rainbow Girls. She was very determined to make this dream come true despite the opinion of some that the Chapter was too young to take on that type of responsibility. She invited Mrs. Mildred Love, who was the Grand Visitor, to come and speak to the Chapter to explain what had to be done. That same night the first Advisory Board had volunteered. There were about 15 girls that signed up that night with more to come. Then came the long hours of meetings with Mrs. Love and Mrs. Martha Marie Whitfield, Supreme Inspector in Texas and Supreme Service.

The new Rainbow Assembly of Mt. Houston was finally ready with 33 girls and everything needed to be instituted. On November 17, 1961 everyone concerned met at Mt. Houston Lodge for the big event. Every girl was in her long white formal when Mrs. Whitfield declared Mt. Houston L. T. Instituted and ft's Officers ready to be installed. After the Installation Mrs. Whitfield declared the Officers instituted and installed. On September 29, 1962, we were officially given our number. We became Mt. Houston Assembly #31 0.

Since our beginning, we have enjoyed many wonderful years of Rainbow love and friendships. To date, Mt. Houston has seen 366 young girls walk through it's doors in search of it's teachings. Of these girls, many stood apart, taking on more responsibility while walking the path toward womanhood. These young ladies became the Worthy Advisors, and some, the Grand Officers selected by the Board to represent the Assembly at Grand Assembly.

36 years have seen hairstyles change, skirt lengths rise and fail, interest in the Order fail then come back stronger than ever. We have seen war and peace both for our country and within our own Assembly walls. We have cried many tears when it looked as though the end was near for our beloved Assembly, and we celebrated and said a prayer of thanks when each new girl was initiated.

Members have returned after many years away from Rainbow bringing their daughters to learn our teachings, saying that their Rainbow life created some of their best memories of youth. Many traditions that were begun by the first officers are still passed on today, while some new ones have been added.

We still impress on each new candidate the saying, "What you put into Rainbow you will get out of it". Some are willing to give it as much devotion as it deserves, others are not. The story is the same throughout the years. For those who made Rainbow a part of their lives, the memories will never fade and the glorious colors of the Rainbow will shine for ever. This Assembly has seen many changes over these 36 years, but one thing has remained constant: Rainbow Love and Service.

In 1994 Mt. Houston Lodge #1359 AF & AM merged with Woodland Lodge #1157 AF & AM. Woodland Lodge agreed to assume sponsorship of Mt. Houston Assembly #310, I.O.R.G. The transfer was approved by Mrs. Pearl Mills, Supreme Inspector in Texas, Supreme Assembly, International Order. of the Rainbow for Girls. On November 28, 1994 we held our last meeting, and initiation of a new member, at our beloved home, Mt. Houston Lodge. Our first meeting in our new home, Woodland Lodge, was December 19, 1994. We have enjoyed this home, and wish to thank Woodland Lodge members for all their Support and Love. We hope that you will always keep Rainbow in your heart and that you will always think of Mt. Houston Assembly #310 as your Rainbow home.
